Hanneke is the Director of Housing Finance for the City of Chattanooga. With a background in architecture and design, she is reworking affordable housing policy and financing to create a more efficient and capable system. She designed Chattanooga's innovative affordable housing tax abatement program and founded Invest Chattanooga, a $20 million public enterprise that uses flexible, low-cost capital and strategic public-private partnerships to produce financially sustainable, mixed-income housing with permanent affordability that the market alone cannot deliver. Hanneke made the Dutch social housing system accessible to an international audience with her comprehensive reports on Woningcorporaties. Her work has been published by Shelterforce, the National Leagues of Cities, and the Harvard University Joint Center for Housing Studies. She holds a Master in Design Studies from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University.
